WHAT IS THE CCMA?

The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is a statutory body established under the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995. It resolves workplace disputes between employers and employees — free of charge to both parties.

Conciliation

The first step. A CCMA Commissioner facilitates a settlement between parties. Legal representation is generally not allowed. We prepare you thoroughly.

Arbitration

If conciliation fails, the case proceeds to arbitration — a formal hearing with evidence and witnesses. An award is issued within 14 days.

Con-Arb

Conciliation and arbitration on the same day. If you are served with a Con-Arb notice, you must be fully prepared. We handle this for you.
